I’m extremely excited for the upcoming HBO series, Boardwalk Empire. The cast is amazing, the backstage talent is amazing, it will likely run for years and have countless parodies. But, no one else will have the first parody! Here it is…

In association with Sequart, the comic book literacy organization, Respect! Films is producing a documentary about legendary comic book writer Grant Morrison. Morrison has written virtually every major comic book franchise, from Batman to Superman to X-Men, and created many new properties, including the seminal comic book series The Invisibles. This documentary is the first in depth look at his life and work in film, and features unrestricted access to the man himself. The film chronicles the development of Morrison’s personal philosophy and life, the evolution of his approach to fiction, and the way that the two became inexplicably intertwined.
Additional interviewees include DC Senior Vice President Dan Didio and artists Phil Jiminez and JG Jones. Recently, we shot at the San Diego Comicon, where we interviewed Geoff Johns, Mark Waid, Jill Thompson, Cameron Stewart, Chris Bachalo, Frazer Irving, Camilla D’Errico, Philip Bond, Chris Weston and many more.
A significant amount of material has already been shot, with more shoot dates to come. Look for the film to be released 2010. It is directed by Patrick Meaney, shot by Jordan Rennert and produced by Amber Yoder.
Check out press coverage at The Beat, where comics writer Warren Ellis said “Let this be a lesson to everyone: Do drugs.”

βIt is complex, not in a way that is hard to understand, but in a way that makes a fiction writer nod her head and appreciate the sophistication of what these filmmakers are doing. Don’t get hung on the word ‘psychedelic.’ There’s very real story here.β β The Buffaloe Pen
