Grant Morrison: Talking with Gods
In association with Sequart, the comic book literacy organization, Respect Films is producing a feature length portrait of iconic comic book writer Grant Morrison. Morrison has written virtually every major comic book franchise, from Batman to Superman to X-Men, and created many new properties, including the seminal comic book series The Invisibles. This documentary is the first in depth look at his life and work in film, and features unrestricted access to the man himself. The film chronicles the development of Morrison's personal philosophy and life, the evolution of his approach to fiction, and the way that the two became inexplicably intertwined. The film has been shot over the course of 2009 and 2010, at Morrison's homes in LA and Scotland. Additional interviewees include comic book writers Geoff Johns, Warren Ellis, Mark Waid, Matt Fraction and Jason Aaron, DC executives Dan Didio and Karen Berger, countercultural personalities Richard Metzger and Douglas Rushkoff, as well as Morrison's artistic collaborators Frank Quitely, Cameron Stewart, Phil Jimenez, Chris Weston, JH Williams III and many more. The film will be previewed at this year's San Diego Comicon, and will be released in Fall 2010. It is directed by Patrick Meaney, shot by Jordan Rennert and produced by Amber Yoder. Check out press coverage at Publisher's Weekly, where comics writer Warren Ellis said "Let this be a lesson to everyone: Do drugs." The film has also been covered on Wired and MTV. |

Warren Ellis: Captured Ghosts![]() As the followup to the eagerly anticipated Grant Morrison: Talking With Gods, Respect Films and Sequart are producing a feature length documentary on cantankerous comics writer and "internet Jesus," Warren Ellis. Shooting on the film has begun, and so far has taken place in London and Chicago. In addition to extensive time with Warren himself, the film will feature interviews with a wide variety of collaborators. It will debut in 2011. |
